A 3 days Gishwati Mukura Forest and Chimpanzees tour takes you to one of Rwanda’s national parks that shelters the chimpanzees and other primates for a wildlife and hiking experience. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to get to Gishwati Mukura National Park from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. You will engage in activities like chimpanzee trekking, golden monkey trekking and hiking and visit Iby’iwacu cultural village while at Gishwati Mukura National Park

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Gishwati Mukura National Park for waterfall hiking
You will leave Kigali after the meet-up with our company representative guide, and you will head to Gishwati Mukura National Park. The journey will take about 3 to 4 hours, and upon arrival, you will check into a lodge, settle in and have lunch.
After having lunch at the lodge, you will go for a hike to Kazaneza waterfall, where you will have a wide range of views of wildlife. The guide will lead you back to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village
Breakfast will be served to you at the lodge, and afterwards, leave the lodge and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. The park guides will brief you about chimpanzee trekking and afterwards give you an armed ranger guide to escort you. You will set off to the forest to search for the chimpanzees, and it will take about 2 to 4 hours to spot the chimpanzees, depending on their location. You will have one hour with the chimpanzees, and following the guidelines given to you to adhere to while taking pictures of the chimpanzees, you will take pictures and head back to the lodge to enjoy a lunch meal.
After relaxing for a while at the lodge, you will leave the lodge and head to Iby’iwacu cultural village for a Rwanda cultural experience of the Rwandese culture and traditions. You will learn to prepare the Rwandese local dishes and also see the locals performing their cultural dance for you. The guide will drive you back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and return to Kigali
Early in the morning, you will enjoy an early morning breakfast and head out of the lodge to the park headquarters. The guides on a Rwanda safari will brief you about the Rwanda golden monkey trekking. With the company of an armed ranger guide, you will start the trek to find the golden monkeys. You will search for the golden monkeys following traces of the broken tree branches, since the golden monkeys are playful in nature and enjoy swinging on trees. You will spend one hour observing the golden monkeys as they interact, feed, and play, among other things. After the trek, you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and be transferred back to Kigali.
