4 Day Trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari

A  4 Day Trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park safari is a short tour package that leads you to the western part of Uganda to explore Uganda’s second-largest and oldest game park after Murchison Falls National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is renowned for its wide population of wildlife, with over 95 mammal species, more than 600 bird species, crater lakes, plants, and vegetation, among others. The park is a gift among the few destinations in the world to host the unique tree-climbing lions, among other species. Some of the wildlife to see include herds of elephants, buffalo, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, topis, and sitatungas, among others.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Our safari driver will pick you up from your hotel or from the airport and give you a short briefing about this Uganda safari. Thereafter, continue to drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stopover at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe. You will enjoy taking memorable photographs and viewing the longitude at 0 degrees Celsius from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere, among others.

Continue to drive for another stopover in Mbarara town to have a picnic lunch

After continuing to drive to Mbarara town to have lunch en route, drive directly to Queen Elizabeth National Park while passing through the rolling hills, viewing the long-horned cattle on the way. Arrive at the park, check into the lodge you’re likely to sleep in, and then go for an evening game drive accompanied by an armed guide using a 4x4WD safari vehicle.

On your game drive, which will be conducted in the Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park. You will be able to spot the rewardable unique tree-climbing lions hanging on fig tree branches, and other mammals to see include buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, and many more. You can also spot some beautiful bird species around.

Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game dive and Evening boat cruise

You will wake up early and have breakfast served with snacks after driving to the park to look for the hidden animals that we missed on the evening game drive. The morning game drive starts at exactly 6:30 and 7 am when we are already there in an open savannah grassland of the Kasenyi Plains to search for mammals. While you are enjoying your game drive viewing in the Kasenyi Plains, expect to see a variety of mammals such as herds of elephants crossing the road, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and many more. Drive back to the lodge and have lunch as you prepare for the evening boat cruise.

After lunch, go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel begins at 2 pm. As you enjoy your boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, expect to sightsee the concentration of hippos and crocodiles and view other animals on the banks of the water while drinking water. Such animals include elephants, buffalo, and waterbucks, among others. Return to the lodge for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking

Wake up, have breakfast, and be driven to the meeting point for a short briefing. After the briefing, you will be escorted to the park trails in search of chimpanzees. On finding them, you will be given an hour to observe them play, feed, and take memorable photos. Back to the lodge for refreshment and lunch. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Return to Kampala

Wake up, have a yummy breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide for another morning game drive in the park. Afterwards, set off back to Kampala with lunch en route. Arrive in the evening and be dropped off at your place of choice. End of the 4 Day trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari.
