This is a 2 days Volcanoes National Park safari to the home of the mountain gorillas in Rwanda, which is about 2 hours away from Kigali city. This 2 days safari will take you to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking, where you will meet the mountain gorillas. You will begin with a city tour in Kigali city to the Kandt House Museum and Kimironko Market. You will then go for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and visit Iby’iwacu cultural village for a Rwanda cultural tour experience. The guide will then get you back to Kigali and leave you at a hotel.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On day 1, you will be picked up from a hotel in Kigali, and you will head for a visit to the Kandt House Museum. After the visit to the Kandt House Museum, you will head to a hotel for lunch. After having lunch, you will go for a visit to Kimironko market, where you will have views of a number of items sold at this local market. You will see items like bags, necklaces, mats, art pieces, fresh fruits, clothes and many more. You will then start the drive to Volcanoes National Park. The drive will take about 2 hours to get there. You will check into a lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking, visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village and transfer back to Kigali
On day 2, you will have an early morning breakfast, and after breakfast, you will be briefed at the park headquarters. You will then go for gorilla trekking, spending about 30 minutes to 7 hours searching for the Rwanda gorillas. You will spend one hour with the gorillas in their natural habitats as you make observations on how they feed and much more.
You will go back to the lodge, and you will have lunch. After having lunch, you will check out of the lodge, and you will head to the visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village. You will arrive and meet the locals at the Iby’iwacu cultural village, who will teach you how they prepare the Rwandese local dishes, and learn about their history. You will see them perform their traditional dance, and then the guide will drive you back to Kigali.
