Our 5 days Kidepo Valley wildlife safari is an interesting tour that will take you to Kidepo Valley National Park, which is located in the Karamoja region, the northern part of Uganda. During this Uganda safari, you will be able to engage in activities like cultural tours where you will be able to interact with the Karamajong people in the neighbouring communities and game drives where you will be able to spot different wild animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, reedbucks, bushbucks, cheetahs, hyenas, elands, impalas, giraffes, zebras, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, topi, among others.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Gulu/Kitgum via Ziwa rhino sanctuary

You will be picked up from your hotel or Entebbe Airport by our driver guide, briefed about the safari, and later start the journey to Gulu/Kitgum to cut the long journey to Kidepo Valley National Park short. On the way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola for rhino tracking and then proceed with another stopover for lunch en route. Later, proceed to Gulu, and upon arrival, you will connect to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park, afternoon game drive

After breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park, and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for an afternoon game drive in the park where you will be able to spot animals like giraffes, impalas, reedbucks, waterbucks, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, Uganda kobs, oribi, bushbucks, topi, and greater and lesser kudus, among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and cultural tour

Your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge after breakfast to go for a morning game drive in the park where you will be rewarded with views of predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, caracals, cheetahs, and jackals and other animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, giraffes, zebras, and Jackson’s hartebeest, among others, grazing in the open savannah plains and views of bird species like ostriches. After the morning game ride, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for an exciting cultural tour in the neighbouring communities where you will be able to interact with the Karamajong people, learn about their culture, lifestyle, and way of living, visit their traditional homesteads, and enjoy their traditional dances, among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning game drive and transfer to Gulu/Kitgum

After breakfast, you will meet up with your driver-guide to go for another morning game drive in the park, where you will look out for animals that you might have missed during the previous game drives. Later return to the lodge for an early lunch, check out and start the journey to Gulu/Kitgum. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

You will enjoy a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver-guide to start the journey back to Kampala with lunch en route on the way. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe airport or drop you off at your hotel, depending on your schedule. End of 5 days Kidepo Valley wildlife safari.
